Mouth. Ulcers. Suck. No really, they can do one, I am so sick of having chronic mouth ulcers. Fun fact: this is one of the only if not the only physical ailment that the EDS doesn’t explain away, though the fact that there’s no real consensus on what causes them as a chronic condition it’s possible there’s some faulty wiring going on behind the scenes. I chose not to let that ruin today though; I needed a wallet, and I felt like watching the Pride celebrations for a bit, so I hopped over to Brighton to do both. It was nice, and it was useful too, as it let me scope out a key location for TEL I am writing the scene of at the moment.

Having a chance to go visit the places that I am setting key scenes, or indeed any scenes with fixed real-world locations is an important part of the editing process. Indeed I plan to do a series of editing sessions where I visit every place I name in the series and sit there, make notes, then do my editing for that place in person, so I can make each location as authentic as possible. And no that wasn’t my driving force for pushing myself to go back to Sussex, more that was a useful coincidence that worked out pretty darn well for everyone. Unfortunately this isn’t gonna help out the Horizon trilogy much, but then, that trio has problems that go far beyond set dressing…
