Actually, yes, yes it was. I started out groggy and tired, and I ended up grabbing the extra hour of sleep and working from home, despite the hour and a half nap and early bedtime last night, so it started out as a trainwreck. But then, it worked out. I ended up needing to go into the office to reset my work password, as I had one service I wasn’t logged into with the old one and sods law I needed that one thing today, but it was the best possible outcome. I felt so much better in the office, and well, no kidding, I hate working from home, what did I expect?
I need to remember that more often. An hour extra sleep is not worth the trade if it means I have to work feeling miserable all day and likely write late. So why do I keep doing it? Well because the option is there, and I hate that that’s a thing. I almost wish I was told ‘no, you have to do 5 days in the office‘. I also really don’t want that, as being able to WFH when I’m starting to feel run down does wonders for me not getting ill, and is super convenient for say when I have packages arriving. But as much as flexible workstations is cool, I do miss the old boundaries.
HOR is still developing nicely into a new and vibrant story, as is WHT in the rewrite, which is now 2/3rds complete. When the latter is done, it’ll go right back to my lovely assistant/beta reader/xirlfriend – same person – and, well probably get torn to shreads again but books are like muscle: you gotta tear them up to build them up. Also drugs help build them faster. Coffee, I’m talking about coffee. Not for muscles, use steroids. Don’t use steroids.
