It may sound a little strange to most people, but I am so glad to be back at work. I mean, it should not be that suprising for those who know me, given I like my job quite a lot. I also feel a lot more in control of my life when I have a degree of structure, and events to build my day around. Being ill means the only thing you have to build around are rest and coughing fits, both frequent and random.
I haven’t written yet, but that isn’t too suprising given thanks to my loss of structure I was writing much later. Once again I see this as a sign that I need to figure out how to apply “work” structure to my home life. But it’s not like I’m going to have much of a weekend for the next 5 weeks. I could rant for hours on how much I hate General Elections – to an extent I have – but it’s time to make the most of it.
So in line with that, I have now added “Survive the 2019 General Election” to my master projects list. I’ve created a 9am task to go to HQ every Saturday, and each day in the week before polling day. It shows me the definitive amount of work involved, which makes less overwhelming. It also means I can plan my other commitments around them, so I won’t end up overwhelming myself.
TSS is going well at 13,000 words. As I’ve eluded to, though I am going to use some of my downtime today to make sure my beats are in the right place. Here’s hoping that this doesn’t unearth any gremlins.
