Today is going, a heck of a lot better than I expected it to. There is always a tension for me in leaving my emails unattended for a long period of time. Even with my top of the line organisation skills it never feels all that great to not check them whilst at work. I had no choice the last few days because of the enrolments period, so I braced for a hectic day.
Inbox is already clear. It took less than 10 minutes to sort the 40-50 incoming jobs into my Trello and get on top of the whole lot. Man can I say getting myself organised was one of the best decisions – no, the best decision of my life. And I’ve not even touched on the best part yet. With all that going on, I joined a sprint for a few minutes on Discord and got 309 words of VOL done already.
I can’t do a super long post today as I do have a lot to be doing, but I’m confident that I’ll have target in the bag by 5pm. Not only that, there’s a good chance I’ll have my work backlog cleared or near-empty to boot. That may be a stretch, but I gotta say the odds even with all I have to do are in my favour. That as a good feeling. I don’t know how I ever coped when I didn’t have all this.
(Oh, side note. I’m not just bragging about my organisational wonders. If you want advice or guidance setting up a similar system for yourself – inbox zero, all tasks in one place etc – get in touch. This is a service I provide at the college, but even if you’re not one of my collegues I am happy to help. Fellow writers, try out Trello or a similar tool if you haven’t. Trust me, these kind of boards are game changers.)
